Denver’s South Broadway Multimodal Corridor Project was over a decade in the making, starting with advocacy campaigns and city-led pilots that led to its initial installation and, eventually, permanent expansion. Key challenges included managing space limitations within an urban setting, linking several neighborhoods and major amenities, and making sure public opinions and concerns were acknowledged and addressed. Planners tackled these hurdles by developing new assessments, utilizing digital mapping, leveraging smart city technology, and incorporating training and capacity building efforts. The latter involved coalition building, tactical urbanism, political leadership, securing funding, and engaging businesses. These strategies guided the complex process and led to the project’s successful implementation.
