Sarah O'Keeffe is Director of Sustainability & Climate Justice at the City of Cleveland. As a part of Mayor Bibb’s cabinet, Sarah leads the Office of Sustainability in collaborative work between municipal departments such as planning, economic development, and public utilities, as well as with the regional MPO (NOACA), Cuyahoga County and several community organizations. Recent federally funded collaborative initiatives for Cleveland's Mayor's Office of Sustainability include $340k for a residential composting program, $600k for co-leading the CPRG Planning Grant for the MSA, $3.4M for transformation of urban forestry in Greater Cleveland, $3.9M in grant funding for a equitable public EV charging station network and a sub-award of roughly $21M for Cleveland on the Municipal Empowerment for Clean Energy and Conservation CPRG implementation program that would use former brownfield landfill sites for solar. Sarah is also a city lead for the Partnership Table of Cleveland's Bloomberg American Sustainable Cities Initiative, in coordination with the Innovation Team Director. This initiative seeks to rehabilitate housing in Cleveland to be energy efficient, healthy and affordable, in alignment with a 15-minute city strategy and achieving net zero emissions citywide by 2050.
