Ed Gilliland

Ed Gilliland, AICP, CEcD, Senior Director
Since his 2015 start at The Solar Foundation (now merged with IREC), Ed has overseen $20 million in awards in support of renewable energy. He leads Charging Smart, a DOE funded program to help local governments facilitate the growth of electric vehicles (EV) and EV charging. In 2023, he co-authored the report, Planning and Zoning Guidance for Electric Vehicle Charger Deployment. For the American Cities Climate Challenge, he worked with cities to support the development of EV-ready ordinances. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
