J.J. is a Denver-based director at Community Builders and provides a wide range of strategic planning and project management to Community Builders projects. He brings 30 years of national experience leading planning projects to create equitable, affordable, and more livable communities by leading both traditional and targeted community outreach processes. For the last two years, he has comanaged the Colorado Department of Housing Affordable Housing Toolkit for Local Officials providing training sessions and technical assistance across the state to improve the ability of local officials to understand and respond to the unique set of housing challenges their communities are facing. He has led 15 in-person half-day trainings, as well as six multi-month technical assistance assignments, throughout the state, predominantly in rural communities. He assisted with designing the trainings to be action-oriented to bring numerous public officials, staff, and non-profit organizations together to help them plan and prioritize actions to address their community housing needs.
