Owen Wells, AICP is the Assistant Director of Parks Planning at Denver Parks & Recreation. Over his 20+ years of working in both large municipal parks departments and planning consulting firms, Owen has cultivated a deep knowledge of the wide variety of environmental, economic, and policy issues involved with complex parks planning and development initiatives. Since joining Denver Parks & Recreation in 2019, he has spearheaded the first-of-its-kind Outdoor Adventure and Alternative Sports Strategic Plan, the development of the department’s Parks Legacy Fund 5-Year Plan, the visioning or re-imagining of some of the department’s newest properties and well-loved older legacy parks, and the acquisition of new parkland to protect and grow the city’s open space network.
