Andy Rutz, CNU-A, is the Principal and Founder of Crescendo Planning & Design - an urban design & urban planning consultancy based out of Denver, Colorado. Andy has nearly 20 years of professional experience in urban design, architecture & urban planning. He has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors, which gives him a unique perspective that helps in fostering successful collaboration between both sides. As a planner & designer, Andy’s passion is rooted in bringing tangible, physical change and improvement to the communities in which he works.
Andy is also a Lecturer in the University of Colorado-Denver's College of Architecture & Planning (CAP), where he teaches in the Master of Urban Design program and the Master of Urban and Regional Planning program, and serves on the school's Urban Design Advisory Council. Among the courses he has taught over the last 8 years have been two Urban Design & Urban Planning studios focused on Missing Middle Housing in Denver and rural Colorado.
Outside of work, Andy loves to spend his time with his family - wife, Cory; daughters, Maeve & Grace; and dog, Avon Barksdale - exploring small towns and the natural beauty of the outdoors in Colorado.
