Tareq Wafaie, AICP, leads Amazon's Economic Development efforts in the Mountain West, including Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming. In his current role, Tareq represents several business units and works directly with the communities in which Amazon operates from early engagement and site selection through post-launch operations and community relations. Prior to joining Aamazon, Tareq spent most of his career as a consultant for land use and zoning reform projects serving cities across the United States. Having worked in city government, private land use consulting, technology start-ups, and corporate economic development, Tareq has a comprehensive understanding of the various challenges facing urban planners, local governments, and developers. Tareq is a born-and-raised Coloradan, and spends his free time skiing, mountain biking, fishing, golfing, or various other outdoor activities with his wife, his two teens, and his Border Terrier.
