Nader Afzalan, Ph.D., is the Founder of The Triangle, a firm dedicated to helping organizations enhance the community impact of their programs and policies as they navigate urban transitions. He also serves as the Endowed Chair of Social Justice and a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, College of Environmental Design.
Nader works with organizations to design, evaluate, and refine policies and programs by assessing their potential, future, and observed impacts. His expertise spans climate resilience, collaborative governance, smart cities, and technology, with a strong focus on aligning policies with measurable, equitable outcomes.
With over 20 years of experience, Nader has led the development and implementation of policies and programs across the United States, China, Central America, and the Middle East. He has collaborated with federal, state, and local governments, non-profits, and international institutions to bridge data-driven decision-making with real-world impact.
As a scholar, Nader has authored over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, with his work cited more than 700 times. His research and practice emphasize the intersection of policy, equity, technology, and urban development, helping organizations move from intention to impact in the face of evolving global challenges.
