Fatima Wajahat has over eleven years of public and private sector experience in the Houston area in local and regional master planning, CIP planning, and planning for affordable housing, resilience, and disaster recovery. At Harris County, one of the fastest growing counties in the country, Fatima has led countywide and area-specific projects on roadway safety/Vision Zero, multimodal improvements, and parks and open space systems. She also led Harris County’s grant submissions for several federal and state applications for roadway safety projects. Fatima’s past roles include managing planning projects for municipalities across West Texas and developing five-year strategic plans as well as a disaster recovery needs assessment for housing and community development.
Fatima received her doctoral and master’s degrees in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and computer science. Fatima is a credentialed professional planner with a certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners, and is a member of the American Planning Association.
