Kristina Cerise is the Planning Manager for the City of Mukilteo, Washington. She thinks land use planning is one of the most interesting things local governments do and is determined to help people see things her way. Her team recently reduced the city’s sign regulations from 43 pages to 11 and eliminated 62% of the words from the procedures chapter.
Kristina has a BA in Planning and Environmental Policy from Western Washington University and a Certificate in Memoir Writing from the University of Washington. She is also an award-winning humorist and avid reader of nerdy books.
Kristins’s urban planning and environmental essays have been featured in Planning, The Western Planner, and The Washington Planner. Her personal essays have appeared in Brain Child, Working Mother, Geez, and Creative Nonfiction magazines as well as three book anthologies.
