Coastal communities stand at the leading edge of the climate crisis. The threats they face — posed by coastal inundation and sea level rise — are both increasingly ordinary and potentially existential. Coastal communities are hungry not only for data and decision-support tools, but also for the training, expertise, and capacity required to apply these tools to real world plans, policies, and regulations. NOAA's Digital Coast is working hard to make this a reality.
Presenters help planners in coastal communities better understand the array of emerging tools available on the Digital Coast platform and elsewhere, and identify challenges and opportunities for using them. Learn about cutting edge visualization tools and techniques for building effective policies to address coastal inundation and sea level rise. Participate in a discussion centered on real world approaches to using these emerging tools for building flood resilience, and face the challenge of collaboratively developing workable strategies to overcome barriers to their wider deployment in practice.

Learning Objectives:
Identify leading data visualization and decision-support tools for addressing coastal inundation and sea level rise.
Apply visualization and decision-support tools to the development of plans, policies, and regulations for addressing coastal inundation and sea level rise.
Develop strategies to use software tools, real-world stories from the field, and capacity-building training to effectively plan for the risks of coastal inundation and sea level rise.
