Leave this session able to apply existing unhoused response approaches to the development or expansion of your agency's efforts. Speakers represent public transit agencies, while attendees reflect a more diverse distribution of the planning profession. The presentation's activities reflect this.
This learning lab opens with a round robin discussion of the challenges associated with meeting the needs of the unhoused. Each presenter shares best practices and lessons learned in launching their agencies' unhoused response programs, while the moderator curates audience questions.
Interactive small groups that conduct micro-SWOT analyses and brainstorm relevant stakeholders equip attendees with a custom-fit foundation to bring back to work. Presenters and attendees iterate possible strategies for alleviating homelessness through partnerships, data gathering and analysis, outreach and engagement, policy and leadership, and innovative new programs. Leave with a plan for creating or expanding your own unhoused response program and knowledge of ample opportunities for better meeting the needs of the unhoused.
