Dra. Leonor Vanik is the inaugural CEO of the National Coalition for Latinxs with Disabilities (CNLD by its Spanish acronym: Coalición Nacional para Latinxs con Discapacidades), a leading organization advancing the rights of DisAbled Latin/a/o/xs through strategic community engagement, policy development, advocacy, research, and education. Her urban planning expertise lies at the intersection of housing, policy, social justice, and marginalized communities, with a focus on the built environment’s impact on physical mobility and individuals with DisAbilities. Under her leadership, CNLD addresses critical issues like health disparities, climate change, and the theorization of DisAbled Latinidades. Dra. Vanik, sister of activist /DisAbled artist Maria Vanik, serves on multiple boards and co-edits the forthcoming Latinx Disability Reader and leads the Hispanic (Dis)Ability Compendium Research Agenda.
