Ian R. Carlton

Ian Carlton, Senior Policy Advisor at ECOnorthwest and co-founder of the MapCraft software company, focuses on equitable development policymaking and implementation. As a former real estate investor, Ian helps policymakers and stakeholders understand the complex and context-specific factors that influence real estate development, particularly inclusionary housing provision. Ian has worked across the country with transit agencies, jurisdictions, federal departments, and NGOs to foster equitable development. He is an adjunct professor of real estate development in Portland, Oregon and member of ULI’s National TOD Council. Ian is passionate about helping people make informed choices and fully implementing their equitable urban visions.
