Don serves as Deputy Director of Community Development in Greeley, Colorado. In this role, he oversees long-range and current planning, engineering development review, building, landscape architecture, and civil inspections in one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country. Don is passionate about developing innovative solutions and helping communities to live their best lives. Continually seeking ways to learn from others while sharing his experience to implement positive change, Don revels in guiding communities to forge a vision for vibrant, inclusive, and equitable futures.His career has been guided by transformative roles in Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming. His expertise spans city, county, and state-level planning, land management, and economic development. Past accomplishments include planning and management for 3+ Million acres of state lands, developing utility-scale renewables programs, habitat banking programs, revitalizing urban areas using a suite of proven incentives and programs, and steering comprehensive planning and economic revitalization initiatives. Don’s expertise is complemented by active involvement in professional service roles with the American Planning Association and he serves on community boards focused on arts, culture, and environmental empowerment.
