Itzel Vasquez-Rodriguez is a 2024 UCLA Master of Public Policy graduate. Her group capstone project, "Addressing the Discriminatory Impacts of Redlining and Highway Development in California," explores the intertwined history of redlining and highway development, its lasting legacy, and policy solutions to rectify these effects.
Itzel has over a decade of nonprofit and water justice experience focusing on Latine/x and Indigenous communities. Itzel currently works as a Small Utilities Project Manager at RCAC (Rural Community Assistance Corporation), where she focuses on supporting long-term water solutions in rural and Indigenous communities. During her time at UCLA, Itzel worked as a fellow at both the Luskin Center for Innovation and the Latino Policy and Politics Institute. Prior to graduate school, Itzel served as an Engagement Coordinator for the State Water Board. Originally from Lakewood, CA, Itzel is a proud Xicana of Cora descent and earned her B.A. in Sociology at Harvard College.
